PARCO DI VIA DANTE - CAIRATE
Concorso di idee
Cairate, Varese (IT)
Year: 2024
Team: Luca Luini, Lorenza Sartori, Riccardo Masiero, Riccardo Piconi
Status: Lost Competition
The
project lot in via dante, represents an important urban void within
the city center, in direct contact with the large territorial system
of the olona valley, and with the consolidated fabric of the city.
The
olona valley can be developed for leisure, sport, culture,
production, and innovation, benefiting the city of Cairate. To
this end, connecting
the city center to the valley is important physically, trough routes
that facilitate ascent/descent into the valley, and
by providing the city with an attractive and varied programmatic
offer. In
the olona Valley, there are several important activities currently
present and under development.

The
restoration and expansion of the 19th-century
villa’s park provides an opportunity for social renewal and
environmental revitalization in the heart of Cairate.
The
park in via dante, which was born as a private garden of romantic
taste, has over the years become an area that was first cultivated
and finally uncultivated and abandoned, thus seeing its original
conformation irreversibly lost.
The park on Via Dante, originally created as a private garden with a typical romantic aesthetic, has evolved over the years from a well-mantained area to an abandoned and uncultivated space, leading to the irreversible loss of its original form. The project aims to re-imagine both the historical, architectural and natural elements of the garden, including its wooded and rural landscape, to establish a diverse ecosystem.

The
garden is designed as a series of natural rooms, bordered by strip of
layered vegetation. Paths and activities wind through the garden,
providing shaded areas for rest, spaces for interaction, large lawns
that slope down towards the valley below.
The
park’s paths are envisioned as a continuous gentle ribbon that
conform the shape of the land, and the green space within it.
