The apartment is situated within a 1931 terraced house, overlooking a central street on one side and a bright, green courtyard on the other, while preserving notable architectural elements such as ornate window frames. Designed for a young couple, the project entailed renovating three rooms of the grandparents’ former residence to create an independent apartment. The overarching objective was to harmonize the building’s energy efficiency requirements with the retention of certain poignant features associated with the couple’s memories.
The primary aim of the project was to enhance the building’s energy efficiency through internal insulation (to preserve external embellishments) and the installation of a new radiant floor. Simultaneously, an internal reorganization was undertaken to optimize views, light, and privacy, including the addition of a new bathroom previously absent in that part of the building.

The strategically positioned new staircase facilitates independent access to the premises, nullifying the need for common balcony use. Acting as a distribution and connective element, the staircase imparts distinctive character to the spaces through its color, drawing inspiration from the original internal LIGHT blue paint of the shutters and fixtures.
Where possible, the interior finishes integrate original elements of the house with modern components. Notably, in the bedroom, the sole space where the antique cement tiles were preserved, they have been integrated into the contemporary radiant flooring system, juxtaposed with a flooring motif reminiscent of the terraces found in traditional houses.
